The blessed Sumatra islands

Mentawai & Telos Islands

Remote reef systems, consistent swells and strategic mobility across Mentawai and Telos.

The world's best surfing region

Swells that travel thousands of miles to get here

We move with the swell to keep you ahead of the crowd in Sumatra's most consistent reef breaks. Limited guests onboard ensure maximum water time and a focused surf experience. In partnership with Ferry Erawan, a Mentawai surf charter pioneer operating these waters since 1997.

Consistent power

The region receives consistent swells generated by South Indian Ocean storms, the famous Roaring Forties and Furious Fifties at latitudes 40 to 60 south, travelling thousands of miles and reaching Sumatra's reefs as clean, long-period groundswells.

Millenary perfection

Over thousands of years, the constant pulse of the ocean has shaped the countless coral reefs around these islands, creating machine-perfection waves, long walls, plenty of barrels, and the highest concentration of world-class waves on the planet.

The Doldrums effect

The islands sit within the Doldrums, a belt stretching one hundred miles north and south of the Equator, characterised by light winds year round, creating oil-glass conditions.

Always offshore

Due to the high density of islands and their small size, if the wind direction is wrong on one side of an island we find offshore conditions on the other, usually a short boat ride away.

Tropical paradise

Beyond the waves, the tropical warmth, crystal clear water, white sandy beaches with coconut trees, plenty of sea life and untouched nature make this place close to paradise on Earth.

Ultimate seclusion

Very remote locations, often without human presence, and a lack of modern infrastructure and transport are key to keeping the crowds away. A surf charter grants you access to all the breaks, even the most remote ones, inaccessible by other means.
